Comics Review : The Flash Volume One: Lightning Strikes Twice : DC Comics (2017)

Hello Speedsters and DC Comics Fans , Here is my review of The Flash Volume One: Lightning Strikes Twice Trade Paperback from DC Comics DC Rebirth. 1st a description of the story : A new storm brews over Central City and disproves the old adage about lightning never striking twice! Just as Barry begins to feel overwhelmed fighting crime, a new speedster appears-but just where did this amazing new ally come from? Now, the Fastest Man Alive finds himself in a city of speedsters-and dealing with the reappearance of Wally West! Collects THE FLASH: REBIRTH #1 plus issues #1-8 of the new series. Now on to my review of this 1st volume of The Flash from DC Rebirth , The Flash Volume One: Lightning Strikes Twice is written by Joshua Williamson with artwork by Carmine Di Giandomenico. We get up to speed with what has been going on with The Flash Barry Allen and it picks up right where DC Universe Rebirth the one shot issue left off. We see Barry trying to figure out where is this speed force storm coming from and who is Godspeed? And we The Flash finds out the fight of his life happens. The story I liked some parts of it and did not like others in this 1st volume issues both The Rebirth One Shot and issue #1 where my favorite but issues 2-6 where a tad slow but issues 6-8 amazing. The writing by Joshua Williamson is the best part of this 1st volume he gets the character of The Flash Barry Allen and what gets him through the day. My biggest issue so far with The Flash in DC Rebirth is the artwork by Carmine Di Giandomenico too much inking in the artwork plus is a tad dark at times in the book. When other past artists who worked on The Flash like Ethan Van Sciver and Francis Manapul did the artwork it was amazing and the panel work was good. The artwork so far in DC Rebirth Flash a step down from past artists but it is getting better. Extra that are included in The Flash Volume One: Lightning Strikes Twice are some variant covers and some concepts of what the characters look like. Overall I give The Flash Volume One: Lightning Strikes Twice a 8/10 a good 1st volume for The Flash from DC Rebirth but the artwork needs to improve hope it gets better as the series goes along.
