2016 : Year In Review : Star Wars

Hello Star Wars Fans , This is my 2016 Year In Review and to wrap it all up where going to talk about The Year in Star Wars in 2016. 2016 started out on a high coming off Star Wars The Force Awakens which was a huge success. In April 2016 Star Wars The Force Awakens was released on Blu-Ray and DVD with a 3-D Blu-Ray Disc release to come later in 2016 in November but more on that later. Star Wars Rebels continued to be a good show not a great show but the Season 2 Season Finale Twilight of The Apprentice was really good and was one of the best TV Season Finales of early 2016. In June brought us Star Wars Celebration Europe and for the 2nd year in a row was a huge success while not as huge as Star Wars Celebration Anaheim in 2015 Celebration Europe had a lot of good panels and events to get us ready not only for Season 3 of Star Wars Rebels but also Star Wars Rogue One A Star Wars Story. San Diego Comic Con 2016 came and while not a ton of Star Wars news at SDCC for Hasbro and the other licences had a ton of news coming out of SDCC. September brought us Force Friday 2 aka Go Rouge as most of the toys and collectibles for Star Wars Rogue One A Star Wars Story came out. October brought New York Comic Con NYCC and a ton of Star Wars Toy News came out some for Star Wars Rebels but a ton again for  Star Wars Rogue One A Star Wars Story. November brought us the release or shall I say re release of Star Wars The Force Awakens in a 3-D Collectors Edition Blu-Ray Box Set which has most of the extras from the past release (from back in April) and a few from Target that where not on the 1st release. Novels wise Star Wars Novels where good in 2016 both from Disney publishing , Del Ray Books. Also the reference books from DK Books where solid in 2016. Comics wise from Marvel though in 2016 too much inconsistency though comics like the ongoing Star Wars series , Star Wars Poe Dameron and mini series like Star Wars Han Solo where strong titles. Hopefully Star Wars Comics from Marvel can turn around and have a Rebirth of sorts in 2017.  But without question the biggest event to end 2016 was the release in theaters of Star Wars Rogue One A Star Wars Story. Star Wars Rogue One is a great not just Star Wars movie but one of the best films of 2016. Not going to go into Spoilers here but Felicity Jones is super amazing as Jyn Erso and the entire cast in Rogue One plus the ending will leave you in tears it’s that good of a film. Unfortunately did not end on a good note for us Star Wars Fans and as a community as we lost both Carrie Fisher who played Princess now General Leia and her Mother Debbie Reynolds. Carrie Fisher to us Star Wars fans was royalty as Princess Leia and she will be forever in our hearts. I’m sad she is gone but she will never be forgotten and is One With The Force. So their you have it my Year In Review of Star Wars for 2016. MTFBWY Always and can’t wait to see what Star Wars brings us in 2017!!!
